Fiesole Etruscan Ruins

We take a day to leave the hustle-bustle of Florence for the nearby hill-town of Fiesole. There we tour the ruins of a settlement occupied by the ancient Etruscans and Romans. We have lunch in town, walk its charming streets, and hold classes on the piazza before returning to our Florence hotel.

Toledo

We visit the cathedral and learn about the architecture and artwork, including many works by El Greco. We then walk through the Jewish neighborhood, visiting the Santa María la Blanca Synagogue. During your free time, you can explore the city, learn about Damascene and Toledo’s steel, shop, and try the city’s specialty, marzipan.

Madrid

We travel by public bus to Spain’s capital, Madrid, and learn about taking the subway to the city’s center arriving at the Puerta del Sol. From there, we take a walking tour including the Palacio Real, Plaza Mayor, Prado Museum, and other key monuments, finishing at lunchtime.

Alcázar of Segovia

We have a guided tour through the Alcázar of Segovia, where Queen Isabella was crowned in 1474. While in the Alcazar, you may also climb the tower of Juan Il for a beautiful view of the city of Segovia and its surrounding countryside.

Dachau Concentration Camp

The first concentration camp opened in Germany; Dachau is located on the outskirts of Munich. We spend a day at the camp, allowing each student to see the remaining camp and the temporary and permanent exhibitions on display.

Munich Day Trip

All students and faculty travel by train to Munich in the morning, pursue a number of curriculum-related activities (exhibitions, museums, exploring) and return late in the evening. The excursion is included in the general program cost.

Vienna Excursion

All students and faculty travel together to Vienna, Austria’s capital, for 4 days and 3 nights. Vienna, rich in music offers world-class concerts and theatre, exhibitions, food, shopping, and cultural events.
