I was able to visit private and public hospitals, orphanages, an HIV/AIDs clinic, and people’s homes. Each experience taught me lessons of compassion, resilience, and humanity. I had the opportunity to deliver a baby, give vaccinations, perform many nursing skills, and make connections with patients and people in the community. I was fully immersed in a culture that is very different from my own and learned much more than I ever could being at home.
