The KIIS Paris-Munich program is an eleven-day program that begins in one of the most vibrant German cities, Munich, and ends in the City of Lights, Paris. Students spend the first five days in downtown Munich near most of its famous attractions, including the Viktualienmarkt. The second part of the program will be in Paris. Culinary places in both countries will allow students to see how they are an integral part of German and French society. Note: Students should be aware that some walking is required in this program.
I teach foreign languages and translation at Bellarmine University. I have an MFA in Writing from Spalding Univ., an MA in Spanish Literature from UofL, and an MA in German Literature from UC Santa Barbara. I have taught with and been the co-director of the KIIS Paris-Munich Winter Program since 2014.
I’m a Professor of French and Associate Director of the honors program at EKU. I have led students to Paris and Lyon for study abroad. I enjoy showing students how people live beyond stereotypes and how to find new places that are not just the popular destinations. I am interested in consumerism, culture and values. I love film, photography and contemporary literature. All courses are taught in English and are 3 credit hours. You may enroll in 1 course.
All KIIS course credit is awarded by Western Kentucky University. Prior to your KIIS program, please speak with your home campus academic advisor and/or study abroad office to determine course equivalencies. Grades will be transferred to your home institution in late January after the completion of the program. Course offerings are subject to change according to enrollment. To help you budget, keep in mind that you are responsible for the cost of your textbooks & materials, passport fees ($165), one meal per day + personal expenses (approx. $500, or if you are an avid shopper, you may consider bringing additional funds), and any fees from your college/university.
Although KIIS tries to foresee all possible expenses in formulating program fees, please note that dramatic fluctuations in foreign currency valuations and/or airline surcharges may affect the total cost of the program
The Paris-Munich Winter program offers a group flight option where you can travel to your program location with other students and faculty. If you choose this option, KIIS will purchase a flight ticket on your behalf. The flight cost will be added to your final program fee on November 1. The group flight will depart from Cincinnati or Louisville.
If not selecting the group flight, you are responsible to purchase your own roundtrip airfare.
The flight to Munich is overnight arriving the following morning. On the return, the flight from Paris to the USA departs and arrives on the same day. Visit Flights and Passports & Visas for more information.
