This course uses a “place as text” model to connect musical structure with cultural context. Students study formal designs—binary, ternary, sonata, fugue, and variation—alongside site visits and performances abroad. Through analysis, listening, and reflective writing, they explore how historical spaces and traditions shape musical form and meaning. Students will experience the locations and culture that shaped this music in Salzburg, Vienna, and Munich.
