The KIIS Spain II program offers you an opportunity to study advanced Spanish language in the charming city of Segovia. Homestays, the highlight of the program, provide you with an environment conducive to improving your language skills and cultural understanding. Segovia offers a weekly open-air market, picturesque plazas and cafes, as well as frequent musical and artistic events. The city´s proximity to Madrid, with its vast cultural offerings, make this location ideal for experiencing multiple dimensions of Spanish life.
Inma Pertusa, Professor of Spanish at Western Kentucky University, has over 25 years of experience directing and teaching in KIIS Spain programs. A native of Spain, she is committed to fostering global citizenship and intercultural competence through immersive study abroad experiences that connect students meaningfully with the Spanish language and culture.
I have been involved with KIIS and the Spain programs for over 30 years. I spent my junior year studying in Madrid and fell in love with the country, which has inspired me to work to make it possible for students to live with families in Segovia and experience all Spain has to offer. All courses are taught in Spanish and are 3 credit hours. You may enroll in 1-2 courses.
All KIIS course credit is awarded by Western Kentucky University. Prior to your KIIS program, please speak with your home campus academic advisor and/or study abroad office to determine course equivalencies. Grades will be transferred to your home institution in mid-August after the completion of the program. Course offerings are subject to change according to enrollment.
