Built in the Middle Ages, this fortress dominated a vital mountain pass through the Carpathian mountains.  The construction of Tustan was unique, as the wooden beams of the castle were carved into the exposed rock face. Now an archaeological preserve, students who visit the site view the critical role of geography and nature.
