KIIS Professional Programs are designed for working professionals to increase their expertise and effectiveness through language instruction, cultural training, and international study. Since the first Professional Program-- created for Kentucky police officers in 2000-- KIIS has facilitated more than one hundred specially-designed programs serving 24 professional agencies and groups nationwide.

Past KIIS programs in language instruction and cultural awareness have focused on helping professionals in law enforcement, criminal justice, health care, education, and social services; recently, a faith-based program has been developed, so that seminarians and religious leaders can better serve the growing Hispanic populations in their areas. KIIS services and facilities are available to interested organizations that seek assistance with program development for any area of study, from language, to culture, to education, to civic engagement and service learning, to many more academic and professional disciplines. We offer the use of on-site facilities, logistical services, and on-site support as well as years of experience.

At present, KIIS has professional program sites in Austria and Mexico. In Bregenz, Austria, teachers and administrative personnel participate in a program dedicated to Environmental Sustainability. The program affords participants an insight into how the environment, geography, history, culture, education, business, and industry in Austria, Germany & Switzerland impact environmental sustainability. In Merida, Mexico, classes are held at a small private business college that serves as the host facility for KIIS. The modern facility is equipped with classrooms, offices, and wireless internet access. Our on-site English-speaking director is available to provide 24-hour support. Our team of experienced teachers provides language instruction at all levels, from beginner to advanced. KIIS facilities are available year-round to professional groups. KIIS has had programs in Mexico since 1992, and over the years, has developed an extensive matrix of contacts and partners in numerous disciplines, as well as professional and governmental organizations. Thus, KIIS can provide opportunities for program participants to integrate with their international counterpart organizations to gain a sense of how their professions function in Mexico.
