FAQs

1.          Does KIIS defer payment for students receiving financial aid?

No, all students must submit payments by the stated deadlines.

2.          May a spouse or child accompany a participant on a KIIS program?

Yes, but only on a space-available basis.  Spouses of participants are required to apply to the program and register for at least one course for academic credit unless that spouse is going to take care of a child or a participant with a disability.  Family members must pay the full program fee whether taking classes or not.

3.          Will an application that is missing the application fee be considered?

No, the application fee of $150 must accompany the application.

4.          What about applications that are postmarked by the application deadline
but are missing either the official transcript, letter of recommendation,
               or both.

Applications will not be considered without the official transcript and letter of recommendation. If the official transcript or letter of recommendation are both postmarked after the application deadline, then the student's application will be considered on a space-available basis.

5.          Will late applications be considered?

Applications postmarked after the application deadline will be considered on a space-available basis.  Students are encouraged to submit their application, there is a  possibility of  availability in the semester programs.   If a program has a waiting list, late applicants who are accepted will automatically go to the bottom of the waiting list.

6.          Will KIIS accept an unofficial, student-issued transcript?

No, the transcript must be official and must be mailed directly from the student’s registrar’s office to the KIIS office.  The transcript MAY NOT be issued to the student or any other person in a sealed envelope and forwarded to the KIIS office.  It is recommended that students request transcripts at least two weeks prior to the application deadline to allow sufficient turnaround time in the mailing of the transcript.

7.          How should letters of recommendation be mailed?

Letters of recommendation may be mailed directly from the professor writing the letter of recommendation or may be given to the student in a sealed envelope to mail to KIIS.

8.          How does the waiting list work?

If there are more applicants than a program can accommodate, then a waiting list is created.  A student on the waiting list may move up into a space that is created if an accepted student withdraws from a program.  If a student does not move off the waiting list, the $150 application fee will be refunded.

 9.          Is the $150 application fee refundable?

The $150 application fee is nonrefundable except when a student is not accepted into a program after review by the program director or when a student is put on a waiting list but does not move into a place in a program.
