KIIS came into existence as a way to make it possible for our students to study abroad at an affordable price. Our programs are consistently among the least expensive programs available, in part because faculty who teach in and direct KIIS programs work for almost no compensation. KIIS programs also receive generous support from consortium institutions. Nonetheless, the cost of studying abroadeven the low cost of KIIS programsis sometimes prohibitive for students with limited resources. Now you can help to send deserving students abroad on KIIS programs. In 2001, KIIS initiated, with the help of the Murray State University Foundation, a development program to encourage philanthropic giving that will enable us to establish scholarship funds. We are appealing to people and corporations with a commitment to international education. If you are a grateful alumnus of a KIIS program, you may feel a particular desire to make it possible for another, younger student to have the life-changing educational experience of study abroad in a KIIS program. Heres how you can help: Gifts to the annual fund: The KIIS Fund for Excellence Gifts to the KIIS Fund for Excellence, established with the Murray State University Foundation, will help provide scholarships for students in KIIS summer and semester programs. The size and number of the scholarships will depend on the funds that have been donated annually. Scholarships will be awarded by the KIIS Scholarship Committee, appointed by the KIIS Board of Directors. All gifts are fully tax-deductible, and you will be sent an acknowledgment. Please contact us if your employer has a matching gifts program. If your gift is at least $100, you may designate the program(s) where you would like your gift to be used. For a list of KIIS programs, please click on the drop-down menus at the top of the page. If your gift is at least $1,000, you may also designate it to be used for a scholarship or scholarships to be awarded to a student or students from an individual KIIS member institution. You may also make an honorary or memorial gift to KIIS. If you so request, KIIS will notify the person whom you wish to honor or the family of the person whom you wish to remember, although the amount of your gift will not be disclosed.

of cash · Credit card gifts You may use your Mastercard, Visa, or Discover card. For a printable form to mail to the KIIS office, click here. Endowment gifts A permanent endowed fund must be built up to a minimum balance. Once this amount is reached, investment proceeds can be used for scholarships and for other program needs. Memorial or honorary endowments can be established and built up over a period of years. If you would like to establish an endowed KIIS fund, please contact David Earnest, the Director of Development, at david.earnest@murraystate.edu. The first endowed KIIS fund to be established is the Milton and Inger Grimes KIIS Endowment, in memory of Inger Grimes and in recognition of the pioneering work of the Grimes family in furthering international education in Kentucky. The proceeds of this endowment will be used to award KIIS scholarships. If you would like to make a gift to this endowment, you may do so by check or by credit card. Specify that you would like to contribute to the Milton and Inger Grimes KIIS Endowment. |
